| Butch Anton earned an S.B. in Pure Mathematics with Computer Science Specialization from the University of Chicago and did his graduate work in Computer Engineering and Computer Science at UC Santa Cruz and Lacrosse University. An industry-wide respected professional and technical visionary, Dr. Anton serves as Chief Technology Officer for Gemtek Systems and has special responsibility for Standardization and Regulation. He brings over 18 years of experience in advanced systems architecture, transaction processing, and software development to Gemtek Systems' technology roadmap, to serve the new industry of wireless public access. He is in demand at key industry forums worldwide and is a frequently featured speaker on a wide variety of technical topics at conferences such as NetWorld + Interop, Internet World, ISPCON, APRICOT, EyeForWireless and 802.11 Planet. Prior to joining Gemtek Systems, Dr. Anton was VP of Advanced Technology at hereUare Communications, Inc., a provider of public access Wi-Fi network solutions, CTO of DreamLogic, Inc., and was formerly Chief Architect and Manager of the Systems Development Team at iPass, Inc. Dr. Anton was a leading project manager at Apple Computer, Inc., overseeing critical projects in ATM hardware and software, TokenRing Software, and QuickTime TV with its entire suite of products. His other key assignments were at Hewlett Packard, Inc., Taligent, Inc., Computer Sciences Corporation, Inc. (NextGen OS for NASA), and the University of Chicago. Dr. Anton has published numerous books, papers and articles in noted industry periodicals and journals including Proceedings of the ACM, Information Week, Wireless Week, 802.11 Planet, PDA Online Magazine, and the SAMS Unleashed series. He has authored several standards in various industry groups. He serves as Chair of the Wireless ISP Roaming Committee (WISPr), is a key contributor to the IEEE 802.11 Task Group F (roaming) and the IEEE 802.11 Task Group I (security) and to the ETSI TIPHON working group. Dr. Anton is also an active participant in the IETF. Butch is an ardent car and motorcycle racer, an Apple adept depuis toujours, and makes his home in San Jose, California. |
