With more than a decade of high tech industry knowledge in wireless, IP networking, service quality and information security over wireless networks, Lumin Yen is an expert on the current and future states of wireless innovation, including Wi-Fi.
As a contributing member to the Wi-Fi Alliance's Public Access task groups, and as GRIC Communications' Director of Wireless and Broadband Product Management, Lumin's knowledge of market, product and technology strategy development is key to GRIC's leadership in Wi-Fi. Via GRIC's global Wi-Fi network, mobile and remote workers experience seamless Wi-Fi roaming when accessing their corporate networks from outside the firewall.
At GRIC, Lumin leads the Wireless and Broadband Remote Access market initiative, and is responsible for overall strategy, service offering definition, competitive analysis, financial forecasting and product positioning. And as GRIC's industry body representative, in addition to his work with the Wi-Fi Alliance, Lumin leads the IPDR WLAN Accounting and Settlement working group as the Technology Co-Chair.
Prior to GRIC, Lumin was the VP of Operations in charge of project management and operations for a wireless deployment services start-up. Lumin served as Lead Technologist on several multidisciplinary project teams with AtomicTangerine, including the wireless communications and information security practices, providing domain expertise in the telecommunications and security markets.
Lumin also worked for Packeteer where, as the product manager in charge of the AppVantage product line, he focused on defining the company's service provider product strategies and requirements. And prior to Packeteer, Lumin spent four years at Ricochet, a division of Metricom, Inc., where he became the group product manager responsible for all Ricochet wireless network infrastructure components.
Lumin holds a B.A in Physics from the University of California Berkeley and is a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP).
