| Hans van der Hoek received his MSc in Financial Economics from Erasmus University in Rotterdam (Netherlands) in 1986. In his first position, Hans was appointed Project Leader to set up and run the "TopTech Studies" Institute for post-graduate education at Delft University of Technology. In 1990 Hans joined the Swedish telecom equipment supplier Ericsson as Vice President of Distribution & Sales, with global responsibility for the wireless PBX division. He left Ericsson in 1995 and worked as a VP for Baan Company (an ERP software supplier) and Aegon (a life insurance company), until he joined No Wires Needed (a wireless LAN systems supplier) as CEO in 1998. Under Hans' leadership, No Wires Needed developed from a 6-person start-up into an important global player in the emerging wireless LAN market. The company set up offices in the United States, the UK and the Netherlands, and counted some of the world's largest technology companies among its customers. In April 2000, Intersil Corporation acquired No Wires Needed. Having successfully integrated No Wires Needed into Intersil in 2001, Hans joined Gemtek Technology Co. Ltd, (a wireless LAN systems manufacturer - www.gemtek.com.tw), as President of European Operations. In 2002, Hans was appointed President and CEO of Gemtek Systems, Inc when Gemtek created a new global operating unit dedicated to providing Public Access solutions. Hans gives counsel to technology start-up companies around the globe. He serves on the Board of Advisors for Spirea AB (Sweden), Chairman of the Board for Two Beats (Netherlands), and acts as a strategic advisor for Nanotron (Germany) and Gyricon Media Inc, (Ann Arbor, MI). Hans is married to Ellen and they are the proud parents of a 5 year old daughter, Lotte. |
