Mr. Mikko Riepula is the founder and Managing Director of Wificom Technologies Oy, a Finnish software supplier
for new types of wireless service providers. Mr. Riepula has also been heading the service-provisioning arm of
the group, WIFINET Services, contributing to the development of the European WISP landscape and gaining valuable insights into the WISP business as one of the early pioneers in Europe. He has covered a wide
range of technology topics impacting the telecom industry and believes the industry will be shaped more
around IP-based services than many are realising.
Mr. Riepula is an Executive Committee member in Pass-One, an association with the goal of enabling global WISP roaming through the first truly multilateral WLAN operator roaming framework.
Prior to Wificom, Mr. Riepula worked as a consultant in the IT and telco industries in various international expert and management positions, e.g. with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) based out of their EMEA technology centre in Sophia Antipolis, France, on assignments for various telco and financial services
companies; then also as a partner in e-conom-e that he was a co-founder of. Mr. Riepula has also worked with Nokia at their Research Center in Helsinki, Finland, where he specialised in object-oriented software development technologies and methodologies.
Mr. Riepula holds an MSc (Eng) with honours from Helsinki University of Technology and is a frequent speaker at various forums on WLAN service provisioning and related technologies.
