Adel Al-Saleh is the General Manager, Global Pervasive Wireless e-Business, IBM Corporation. He is responsible for the business, applications and solutions-related aspects of IBM's wireless and mobile initiatives around the world. Adel graduated from Boston University in 1987, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, and received his Masters of Business and Administration from Florida Atlantic University in 1990. He joined IBM's Boca Raton Personal Systems division in February 1988, as a development engineer in the VLSI (Very Large Scale Integrated circuits) development organization.
Between 1988 and 1993, Adel held various technical development and management positions including, systems development, sub-systems development, and project management. In 1995, Adel moved to Raleigh, NC, where he assumed management responsibility for Personal Systems sub-systems development and technical procurement. During this period, Adel helped develop and execute strategic business initiatives by partnering with suppliers and outsourcing non-core processes. In 1996, Adel was appointed Global Brand Manager for IBM's Visual products. His responsibility included brand management, marketing, and product development. In 1997, he was named Sales Operations Manager working for Personal Systems Group worldwide General Manager of Sales and Services. In January 1998, Adel was named Director of Personal Systems, for Eastern, Central Europe and Russia. One year later his territorial responsibilities expanded to include Middle East and Africa. In 2000, Adel was named Vice President, Sales, Personal Systems Group, for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He remained in this position until August 15, 2001, when he was named General Manager, Global Pervasive/Wireless e-Business.
In his spare time, Mr. Al-Saleh enjoys playing squash, boating, and spending time with his family.
