Freen is responsible for Bridgewater Systems product planning and architectural design. Before co-founding Bridgewater Systems in 1997, Freen was the assistant vice president of Network Management Development for Newbridge Networks, where he was responsible for all aspects of product development for the network management products. He also developed operations support systems at Raynet Corporation. Before that, he served at Motorola Corporation, where he was responsible for the development and deployment of packet radio networks and a nationwide network in Germany. Prior to that, he held director-level R&D positions at Mitel Corporation and Bell-Northern Research. Freen received his bachelor's degree in computer science and math from York University and his master's degree in computer science from the University of Toronto.
