Dr. Joel Short is the Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of
Nomadix, a company he co-founded with Internet Pioneer Dr. Leonard
Kleinrock. Nomadix provides embedded software and hardware solutions that
enable seamless and secure high speed Internet access for mobile users. Dr.
Short also serves as vice-chair of WECA's Wireless ISP Roaming (WISPr)
committee and is editor and co-author of WISPr's document on "Best Common
Practices for Wireless ISP (WISP) Roaming." Dr. Short has extensive
experience in the design and management of complex computer network systems,
having worked for various technology start-ups and well-known technology
companies including Apple Computer.
He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from UCLA where he was a lead
contributor to various ARPA sponsored wireless and mobile research projects
including TRAVLER - Transparent Virtual Networking and WAMIS - Wireless
Adaptive Mobile Information Systems.
