10:00am The PC and Beyond: The New Devices that Enable Digital Ubiquity
The Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) has evolved from its role as a toy for the technology enthusiast into a key tool for the mainstream business user. Simultaneously it has become a key platform for the emerging concept of Digital Ubiquity. How should businesses deploy these devices? What marketing strategies should vendors employ to drive adoption of these devices? What kinds of features will ultimately transform these devices from "executive toys" to business critical tools?

11:30am Ubiquitous Wireless: Priming the 3G Pump through 802.11b Roaming
Nearly every wireless LAN in the U.S. is now overlaid by multiple rapid cellular-based wireless data networks. Enterprise users and consumers want to benefit from WLAN connectivity when available, but carriers may lose usage revenue on their WAN networks by allowing roaming onto these WLANs. However, risking incremental per-byte revenue is worth the upside return from higher subscriber numbers, especially because data pricing for most devices will be priced with all-you-can eat plans within a year.
  • Will mobile data revenue be driven by data-centric devices or by cell phones?
  • Can the popularity of wireless LANs be effectively leveraged by wireless carriers to drive greater usage of next-gen data networks?
  • Can demand for 3G be driven by enabling applications for handhelds while using WLANs?
  • What role do public WLAN hotspots play in driving user demand?

4:00pm Are We There Yet: The State of Interactive Television in the US
Cable and satellite operators have long seen the opportunities of interactive television, but have yet to overcome its challenges. The goal of interactive television is to extend and to leverage brand identity, to create a compelling, interactive television experience for the consumer and to create new revenue opportunities with advertisers, merchants and content providers. The challenge for cable and satellite operators lies in how to offer and market these services to consumers and advertisers in a cost effective manner. This session will examine different business models while also providing insight into consumers' attitudes about various interactive services such as VoD, sVoD, DVR and the use of iTV applications to reduce churn and increase revenue.
