In 1993, Steve achieved his Ph.D. at the University of California, Davis in engineering. After five years in computer simulation where Steve excelled in analyzing complex systems to ensure effective design, he moved into information security in computer environments. As a director and spokesperson for European security firm, F-Secure, Steve honed his expertise during the viral epidemics that took place during the Internet boom in 1999 and 2000. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, and has direct experience with network security, including VPN and firewall technology, cryptography for digital signatures and encryption, authentication, anti-virus and systems development.
A popular speaker at enterprise, government, press, and analyst events, Steve is a recognized expert in information security. He has been a featured presenter at industry conferences worldwide and has also been interviewed numerous times during major virus outbreaks for radio, television and the web including: CNN, CNET, ABC, CBS, Wired News, Computerworld, and InfoWorld.
