David Richardson is the Liaison to Entertainment Industry and a director of business development for NDS.
NDS (Nasdaq: NNDS) is a recognized leader and pioneer in conditional access and digital television technology. With more than 54 million active smart cards in use NDS protects over $30 billion in pay TV revenues around the globe. The company is also a leading provider of middleware, PVR and interactive technology as well as DRM solutions for mobile and peripheral media devices.
NDS is the technology provider to many of the major digital broadcasting systems now deployed, among them: DirecTV (US), Cablevision (US), BSkyB (UK), Sky Italia, StarTV (Asia), etc. The company is a News Corporation subsidiary.
David has been with NDS for ten years where he has held various business development responsibilities. Most recently he lead the development and deployment of NDS's PVR technology – XTV which has now been selected and deployed by operators such as DirecTV, BSkyB, Yes, Foxtel, Sly LA and more. He was also a member of the teams that have developed NDS's pioneering satellite data broadcasting technologies, IP multicast, Interactive Applications (particularly advertising) among others.
Prior to joining NDS he founded and managed his own company that specialized in pre-press systems integration and content workflow. With an academic background in history, economics and law he came to telecommunications and systems via the Israeli Air Force where he was trained in communications and security. His media experience he gained in the newspaper industry as a reporter, editor, publisher and systems developer.
Cable & Satellite recently recognized him as one of the leaders in European broadband and pay TV broadcasting.
