Brett founded Absolutely Inc. in January 2004 to bridge the engineering-sales gap and help empower emerging technology companies to cross the chasm from early adopters to widespread sales. Previously, Brett served as Senior Analyst at Gartner, where he covered emerging technologies in 15 countries, and Director of Strategic Marketing at Nortel Networks.
Brett's first roles in sales engineering and technology product marketing were as a teenager, at start up Maynard Electronics, which grew from a garage operation to US$50 million in annual revenues. Too young to have a driver's license, Brett rode his bicycle after school and on weekends to Maynard's office in Altamonte Springs, Florida, before moving to Belgium on a 1-year exchange student scholarship by Rotary International.
After completing a BA with Honors and Phi Beta Kappa from University of Virginia and a MA with a certificate in Asian Studies from University of Pittsburgh, Brett moved to Asia/Pacific, where he lived for five years, first in Japan and then in Singapore. Brett has completed consulting, integration and marketing engagements in 30+ countries.
When he's not working at Absolutely Inc.'s office at the San Francisco Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center business incubator, or walking his new dog, you'll often find Brett at client sites and industry events. Across the globe, Brett has chaired conferences for many of the world's leading conference organizers including Gartner, Networld+Interop, IIR, Upperside (Paris), IBC, and CommunicAsia.
Brett's insights have been quoted widely in the press, including by BusinessWeek magazine, USAToday newspaper, Wired magazine, RedHerring magazine, InfoWorld, Computer World, CIO Magazine, RadioWallStreet, Asia Week, Dow Jones Newswires, Reuters and other leading publications. His TV appearances include MSNBC, NHK (Japan), and Fuji Television (Japan).
