Thomas DeMartini joined ContentGuard in May of 2000, where he has worked on user interface design for rights, machine interpretation of rights, rights expression language design, digital rights management architectures, and web services security. He has co-authored XrML 2.0 and 2.1. He has been involved in MPEG since 2001 and spends most his time there on MPEG-21. He served as editor of the MPEG-21 REL specification, which has recently achieved International Standard status (ISO/IEC 21000-5). He continues to be active on the MPEG-21 REL and is working on an amendment to MPEG-21 DIA (Digital Item Adaptation) to enable fine-grained expression of adaptation rights.
