| After receiving his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from UCLA in 1995, Glen Otero worked at the Salk Institute for Biological Sciences, researching HIV and Herpes viruses until 1999. He then worked at the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) and later the Protein Data Bank. While at SDSC, Glen began his experience with Linux clusters applied to the bioinformatics field. He recently founded Linux Prophet, a bioinformatics consultancy specializing in the implementation, design and deployment of Linux Beowulf clusters in the life sciences. Glen's current projects include: a bioinformatics-centric Linux cluster distribution for life scientists; a cluster at the Space and Naval Warfare Command enter; and a Linux clusters book with John Wiley & Sons, Inc. |
