Introduction To XML In Flash
XML is used everywhere, it has become one of the essential languages for
structuring data and interaction between applications. The markup language
can be interpreted by the Flash Player as much as displayed on mobile
devices, via multiple other services and together with SOAP it is also an
essential part of Web-services. Get an introduction to XML, learn how to
display it through Flash and other devices, and get some insight to essential
specifications like DTDs, Schemas, XPath and even XML-Databases.

Building Better Flash Ads
Flash-based ads are one of the only growth products in online
advertising, and yet they rarely extend beyond simple animation and a
few links. In this session, you'll learn about the IAB's Universal Ad
Package (developed by industry giants such as CNET Networks and AOL),
Flash publishing tips for banners, as well as five innovative ad ideas
that fully exploit the format -- yours to implement, free!

10 Client Tips
This practical session will reveal ten crucial tips to dealing with clients. In addition, this session will help freelancers and small business owners (particularly those in the Flash world) become better businessmen. Although many people are awesome designers, very few have any business skills at all and these 10 important tips are sure to help anyone working in the Internet/Design world. Attendees will be given a sample contract to take home with them
along with other real-world examples.

Extending Flash Audio Capabilities With Actionscript
Learn advanced concepts to extend "Streaming Audio On Demand" and "Remixer" applications and how to apply these concepts in conventional Flash presentations. Topics include building a stream play state and buffer status monitor, similar to other streaming media players, to improve usablity of presentations containing streaming audio content, and working around the 8 simultaneous audio channel limit to support 16 independently mixable audio channels without a significant increase in file size.

Integrating Flash With Web Apps: Let Me Count The Ways
At a conference like Flash Kit, there are Web app developers of all stripes. You
may want to connect to ASP.NET, J2EE, or ColdFusion MX, or PHP, ASP,
ColdFusion 5, Perl, etc. This talk will provide an overview of the many ways to exchange data with your Web app server, as well as share tips and techniques for solving common problems, and point you to many resources about learning more for your environment.

Breaking Into Mobile Flash Design
This session will give you the critical information you
need to build mobile Flash projects quickly and effectively.
You'll see an overview of what types of devices play
Flash as well as the key issues in using Flash for mobile design.
You'll discover how to setup your current projects so you can quickly
entice your clients with mobile versions. You'll get major development
tips and tricks that'll save you days of frustration, best practices for
planning your mobile projects, and an overview of essential third party
tools and resources. This session will show you how to break into
mobile Flash development and stay ahead of the curve.

Building The Next Killer App With Flash
The history of software is marked by a series of so-called "killer apps":
VisiCalc (the first spreadsheet), e-mail, the browser, and even eBay or
Amazon are all--arguably--killer apps. Each one inspired users to adopt it
and software producers to copy it. While no one really knows what the next
killer app will be, chances are good that it will be built using Flash,
Flash Remoting, and the Flash Communication Server. To make this possible,
developers must be aware what the tools can do. Come to this session to see
both what's possible and why the next killer app is waiting to be uncovered
using Flash.

The New World Of Flash
In this session, you learn how the new Macromedia MX family of products can be used to create the next generation of Flash-enabled Web sites and Rich Internet Applications (or RIAs). Robert describes the capabilities of Flash Communication Server MX and Flash Remoting MX, and more importantly, he demonstrates how you can capitalize on these new technologies to deliver compelling Internet experiences to your clients.

State Machines: A Better State Of Mind For Programming In Flash
Over the past few years, Flash has become a serious development platform for
creating compelling content for the Web, from Rich Internet Applications to
interactive simulations. As projects are becoming more complex to design,
coordinate, implement, test, and evolve, it is critical to approach
development in Flash from a sound and practical design framework. In this
session, Jonathan teaches how to apply the engineering best practice of
state machines, both finite state automata and statecharts, in Flash to
dramatically reduce project development time while maximizing design
clarity, project organization, and performance verification. He teaches
core concepts through examples from traditional software and Rich Internet
Applications, interactive simulations, and product prototypes.

Using 3D For Good And Not Evil: The Finer Points Of 3D In Flash
Learn how to make Web deliverable 3D animations with Jim Foley. Jim will be covering all the various products available to create 3D for Flash, best practices for model construction, rendering and optimization. You will learn all these techniques through a deconstruction of his Flash Film Festival finalist 3D Vector animation created for the U.S. Navy. Also participate in a question and answer session at the end of the presentation.

Video In Flash
In this session we will discuss the latest developments in Flash Video and present methods and solutions for effectively integrating video in to Flash applications, as a functional element of the overall design and navigation. Topics may include importing video, encoding, preloading, designing a controller, using dynamic Flash video content. We will also introduce third party tools used in this area and demystify the Flash projector video delivering issues. This is an action-packed session with source files available for download coupled with troubleshooting tips and techniques throughout and a FAQ based on the FK Video forum.

Actionscripting: Working With UI Components And External Data Sources
Components are one of the newer features of Flash MX. The UI components provide a Flash MX alternative to creating forms using HTML. These tools are fully scriptable and can receive content from external sources such as databases, XML and text files. This session looks at how the UI components can be used with content from databases when developing Web applications. The session will:
- introduce the UI components and LoadVars object
- provide an overview of ActionScript for use with UI components
- demonstrate useful scripting techniques for components when developing applications
- summarise best practice when scripting components
