Timothy Kay Founder and Chief Technology Officer ActiveBuddy
Timothy Kay founded ActiveBuddy, Inc. and oversees its engineering and technology group. He is responsible for guiding and implementing the technologies that will drive the success of ActiveBuddy's products.
Kay has been a high tech consultant for many years, advising technology heavyweights including Cray Research, IBM Research and Microsoft Research. Kay got a taste for starting new companies as the first hire at Silicon
Gaming. He later turned his energies to the emerging Internet market by jump starting a series of startups including Metro3D, VXtreme, Infospace and LuckySurf.com. In 1997, Kay co-founded Query Labs, an Internet consulting firm that provides third-party directory services to newspapers and media firms.
In 1985, Kay led the Caltech team to win the Association of Computer Machinery (ACM) International Programming Contest. In 1997, Kay, along with his advisor James T. Kajya, won an Oscar from the Academy of Motion Picture
Arts and Sciences for pioneering work in 3-D computer graphics.
Kay received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the California Institute of Technology.
