10:00am - 11:00am IM And The Law
We've all heard that one of the big reasons companies and organizations should use enterprise-strength IM is because of security and privacy concerns surrounding public IM networks. Yet for some industries, a secure IM system just isn't enough. Companies need to fully understand IM privacy issues and be assured that they are legally protected against potential lawsuits. We'll examine all the legal and practical issues in this session.
Moderator:
Bob Woods, Conference Chair, Instant Messaging Planet 2002 Conference & Expo

11:30am - 12:45pm Combining IM and eCRM
eCRM, or electronic customer-relationship management, can be the cornerstone in a company's efforts to better communicate with its customers. Yet many firms aren't cutting the mustard in this department -- a recent survey indicated that only 30 percent of retailers online, both pure-plays and brick-and-mortar operations, managed to resolve an e-mail inquiry within six hours this holiday season. Learn how eCRM with IM can help your company in dealing with your customer-service operations.

Not all companies are looking at IM from just a communications standpoint. Some companies are starting to use it as a marketing vehicle in the consumer segment. In this session, we'll hear from a company that makes consumer marketing via IM its main business. We'll also hear why e-commerce firms should integrate IM into their Web sites, to make shopping more like a real-world experience.

It will be moderated to keep discussion lively and informative. All of the speakers from the conference are invited to come to this session. The Open Mic session is open to all conference attendees.

TECHNICAL TRACK
8:00am - 9:00am Registration
9:00am - 10:00am Integrating IM Into A Traditional IT Structure
To be successful, Instant Messaging must play by the same rules as other enterprise applications. That means that instant messages must be archivable, they must fit within the network infrastructure and they must work well with other applications. It also means making sure that IM doesn't present a security risk for the network.
Moderator:
Kevin Reichard, Conference Chair, Instant Messaging Planet 2002 Conference & Expo
Panelist:
Sonu Aggarwal, CEO, Cordant
Stowe Boyd, SVP, Marketing, Ikimbo
Francis deSouza, Founder and CEO, IMlogic Inc.
Bob Elfanbaum, Co-founder and VP of Sales, Asynchrony Solutions, Inc.

Matt Smith, CEO, PresenceWorks, Inc.
Steve Yost, Internicity, Inc.
10:00am - 11:00am Reaching Users On The Go
Traditionally, Instant Messaging has been structured as a PC-to-PC service. However, with the explosion of computing devices like PDAs, cell phones and Internet appliances, any Instant Messaging infrastructure must support multiple devices that may or not be on a desktop. This session will cover the concepts behind Instant Messaging to multiple devices and show you how you can deploy IM for your deskbound and mobile users.
Moderator:
Kevin Reichard, Conference Chair, Instant Messaging Planet 2002 Conference & Expo

11:00am - 11:30am Break
11:30am - 12:45pm Security Issues For IM Service
The GONER virus taught us that security can be breached via Instant Messaging. If IM is to be used in the enterprise, then IM solutions — both on the desktop and on the server -- must be secure as well. This session goes over some of the security risks associated with IM technology — like viruses and hackers -- and how your organization can address those risks.
