Business Cases and Case Studies in Identity Management (Enterprise Identity Management Track) Experience is not something that should be wasted. That's why we have dedicated an entire morning seminar to case studies in identity management and federated ID. Speakers will hale from financial, educational, healthcare and governmental institutions that are already cutting their teeth on pilot programs and implementations. They will share lessons learned and report on why they decided to move sooner, instead of later, on their inevitable investment in identity management.
The session will also include discussions about the business case for ID management including a look at cost trends and the quantification of benefits. You will walk away having a better idea of how far, and in what directions, your organization will want to move in the short and long term.

e-Authentication Case Studies: Deploying Federated ID
E-Authentication's mission is to provide online identity verification services to the U.S. Government. E-Authentication is accomplishing that mission by establishing a uniform approach to authentication through an open-standards-based, federated architecture. This approach will allow the public to gain access to online government services by reusing credentials they already have from trusted third-parties, such as banks and online retailers.
This session will focus on E-Authentication's adoption of federated identity – what it means for the government, the American public and the business partners that provide identity credentials. It will include a discussion of E-Authentication pilots demonstrating the practical application of federated identity. Georgia K. Marsh, Deputy Program Manager, E-Authentication Initiative General Services Administration, E-Authentication Office, GSA

Aggregating and Reconciling Identities in a Virtual Directory: A Financial Services Case Study
A major financial services organization with over 20,000 employees needed to simplify access to their critical data sources and to ease the administration of identities scattered across over 200 sources. Faced with audit and compliance issues and users having to maintain a separate password for each data source (an employee with access to five sources would need to remember five different passwords and would need to change them at different times in order to comply with a strict security policy), the company needed to get their identity house in order.
The company could not (from a business and technical perspective) bring all of the identities into yet another central system and approached the problem by leveraging and managing the identities in their existing systems via a virtual directory. Dieter Schuller, Vice President, Business Development, Radiant Logic, Inc.

Large-Scale Government ID (Government ID Applications Track) For many decades identification was primarily a function of government and while many commercial applications have emerged in the digital age, government applications are still some of the largest and most complex. Skyrocketing identity theft and terrorism have introduced extraordinary pressure to improve many of these systems.
This comprehensive session will cover the technical and policy issues associated with the modernization of large government ID programs including breeder documents, driver's licenses and electronic services to citizens.
