Jerry Archer is Managing Director for Devonshire Advisors providing management consulting and start-up investment to security-related companies. Mr. Archer also acts as an advisor to the Financial Services Technical Consortium on matters related to information security. In addition, Mr. Archer is a prolific writer and speaker on topics related to information security, risk, e-commerce and resilient systems development.
Previously, Mr. Archer was Senior Vice President, Global Interoperability for Visa International. With Visa’s transaction processing systems supporting $2.4 trillion in global payments annually, Mr. Archer was responsible for driving the thought leadership, policies, and standards enabling Visa systems and networks to interoperate, maintain security, and exceed performance globally.
Prior to Visa, Mr. Archer worked at the Fidelity Brokerage Company, where he was Senior Vice President of Information Security and Technical Risk. He was responsible for the development of information security strategy and thought leadership, technical risk, contingency planning, security technologies, and security operations to support Fidelity’s retail and correspondent brokerage clients.
Prior to joining Fidelity, Archer was Managing Director of Digital Business Solutions for Bankers Trust, where he leveraged Internet-related technologies to create a virtual enterprise model and developed solutions to enable the company’s overall digital transformation to business in an online environment. Earlier, Archer directed outsourcing and development strategy for intranets, Internet, electronic commerce, and information security at Computer Sciences Corporation.
For his work developing and deploying one of the first and largest secure extranets in the US Government, Intelink, Vice President Gore presented Archer the nation’s award for improving the way government works—the National Performance Review Hammer Award. Archer also received a Distinguished Service Award from the Central Intelligence Agency, and a Meritorious Unit Citation from the National Security Agency. Intelink is the principal medium for intelligence support to policy-makers, law enforcement, and the Defense Department’s Global Command and Control.
Archer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Science degree in Information Systems from George Washington University. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
