WHAT IS INSIDE ID CONFERENCE & EXPO’S MISSION AND ROLE?
Our Mission and Role
Inside ID Conference & Expo helps define and nurture the evolving discipline of modern identity management. We will not purport to solve all the problems, nor answer all the questions. However, we will:
Educate at both the basic and advanced levels,
Facilitate the marketplace of buyers and sellers,
Provide a broad-based forum for interaction between diverse constituencies, and
Provide a gathering place for standards groups and associations around the world.
For nearly 20 years, Ben Miller has been a respected authority in the transaction security and card technology industries.
Ben has a track record of success in helping people understand how to bridge the gap between standalone technology and successful real world systems. He founded the CardTech/SecurTech Conference in 1990 and ran all aspects of the event as it grew to a 10,000 attendee and 1,000-exhibit booth event. In 1998, he sold that company to Thomson Corporation and continued to serve as Chair until 2002.
In 1981, he helped establish the PLUS ATM network as a consultant to Chase Manhattan Bank and soon after oversaw the first implementation of an ATM using hand geometry biometrics for the U.S. Army at Ft. Benjamin Harrison. In 1984, he was the project leader on the Agriculture Department's first feasibility study for replacing paper food stamps with card technology.
Ben also managed the modernization of the U.S. Government's financial collection system for two years, including design and implementation of the U.S. Treasury Department's Electronic Certification System, one of the first secure smart card applications in North America.
In 1986, he founded the highly respected Personal Identification Newsletter (PIN) and served as publisher and editor until 1998 when Thomson acquired it along with CTST. Throughout his career, Ben provided consulting services to major corporate and government agencies including American Express, the Department of Energy, Visa, MasterCard, IBM and many others.
A frequent speaker on card-based transaction systems and identification technology, Ben has written over 100 articles for publications and is often quoted in newspapers and journals. He has served as an advisor to the U.S. Congress and National Academy of Sciences.

Jeffery Kutler, Assistant Managing Editor Institutional Investor
Identification is where it is at. Too often people think technology if the solution and they don't realize that there is a whole set of under lying policies, procedures and integration questions that must be worked out. Good for you for understanding that.
Bill Romano, Booz-Allen & Hamilton, Inc.
