Jim Roppa
Global IT Solutions Applications and Operations Department Manager
Caterpillar
As Applications & Operations manager for Global IT Solutions, Jim Roppa has responsibility for ensuring the application and information centers throughout the Caterpillar organization are up and running. He provides an enterprise perspective on the information requirements needed for Caterpillar's global value chain, as well as provides the challenging task of meeting IT enablement expectations for the enterprise.
His operation support extends all enterprise applications across Caterpillar's enterprise. This includes ensuring that the three major processing centers in Australia, Belgium and the U.S. provide connectivity to the more than 220 global dealers; 293 Caterpillar sites; 40,000 suppliers; and 200 parts / logistics sites across 193 countries on seven continents. IT Service management is the cornerstone of Jim's organization for assessing both the effectiveness and efficiencies of the operation's performance, compliance and cost.
Jim has held numerous leadership positions during his 35+ years with Caterpillar. They include Dealer Channel Systems Director, Service Support Manager, Procurement, Supply Chain Integration Manager, and IT Consultant for Canada, Central and South America.
Jim holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Carthage College, Kenosha Wisconsin, and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Illinois at Champaign. He also completed Caterpillar's Advanced Management Program.
