The total reliance of business upon IT services, coupled with recent world events, has emphasized the need for the business to ensure they have a plan to recover and continue business operations in the case of a significant, disastrous event. Traditionally, many IT organizations opt for a ‘one plan covers all’ approach, easier to manage and deploy, but expensive. There is a growing demand, however, by the business to spend wisely and appropriately based upon the relative importance levels of different parts of the business. The use of best practices saves time and money and guidance does exist today to address both the business and IT service provider need for best practices. The challenge is; how to quickly leverage this guidance to create or update continuity plans to ensure they continually support the needs of the business and capabilities of the IT service provider. What You Will Learn: - The scope of the best practice guidance available through both the Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRII) and the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
- The goals of Business Continuity Management and core elements of a Business Continuity Plan (BCP)
- How to approach a ‘business impact assessment’ to identify vital business functions
- The key inputs required by the IT service provider in developing its part of the overall plan – the IT Service Continuity Plan (ITSCP)
- How other IT functions such as Service and Help Desks should leverage the overall BCP
- The DRII and ITIL certification processes
Who Should Attend? - Business and IT Managers who need a good overview of the business continuity management framework
- Staff involved in either the business or IT continuity planning functions who wish to exploit proven best practices
- Anyone new to the continuity management disciplines and wants to see "what's inside the box"
- Anyone thinking of pursuing certification specific to continuity management
- Anyone wishing to add continuity management awareness to his or her current work experience or services
