IT Service Management Institute (ITSMI)
With over 30 years experience in IT, specializing in the operation, management and support of IT services from a business perspective, coupled with over 20 years of inspiring, designing leading service management initiatives positions him as one of the most experienced, pragmatic, realistic and thought provoking consultants and educators in the field of IT Service Management.
Ian’s career spans a wide variety of IT infrastructures, organizational cultures, national boundaries and managerial responsibilities in computer operations management, systems programming, technical and functional support, and worldwide product management. He is an accredited ITIL instructor at all levels having gained his own Service Manager certification in 1997 with a distinction.
In 1996 he formed the IT Service Management Institute (ITSMI) the year before as the first US-based company to offer the ITIL training and certification, and has since trained many of the senior consultants working in the ITSM field for major vendors and competitive organizations.
Ian and ITSMI were one of the founding members of the itSMF USA User Group in October 1997 and he served on a voluntary basis as the Vice President of Membership from the start through to November 2003.
Ian helps many of today’s leading solution providers and Fortune 100 companies in the definition and implementation of their service management strategies, and is Chair of the Council for Service Management Education’s “Customer Advisory Panel”, the examination institute designate for the United States.
