As the director of marketing for Enterprise Content Management, Ms. Taufen
is responsible for the worldwide marketing of IBM's enterprise content
management offerings. Enterprise content management centers on the
management of all forms of digitally stored content from documents to
electronic reports to rich media including audio and video. Prior to this
assignment, Ms. Taufen was the executive assistant to the IBM Senior Vice
President of Marketing.
Ms. Taufen joined IBM in 1981 as a systems engineer in Minneapolis,
Minnesota focused on serving the needs of large and medium sized insurance
companies. In an assignment as manager of marketing in IBM's headquarters,
she gained a keen understanding of the technology needs of enterprises both
large and small. Ms. Taufen also led IBM's Year 2000 and e-business efforts
to reach small and medium sized businesses around the world. She and her
global team helped IBM customers in the small and medium business segment
transition successfully to the Year 2000 and transform their businesses to
e-businesses using IBM technology and services.
As a sales manager in St. Louis, Missouri and Peoria, Illinois, she led
sales teams specifically focused on serving the needs of business,
governments and schools. She has held other positions in IBM including sales
representative in Chicago and Wausau, Wisconsin.
Ms. Taufen earned a master's degree in management from the Northwestern
Graduate School of Management and a bachelor's degree in math and computer
science from St. Olaf College. She has traveled the world extensively and
serves on the Board of the Circumnavigators Club.
