Bart Schachter is a founding general partner of Blueprint Ventures, an
early-stage information technology venture firm with over $200 million
dollars under management. Bart brings 16 years of entrepreurial,
venture and industry operating experience in communication
semiconductors, wireless and infrastructure software. He has a
demonstrated track record of working with early stage venture-backed
start-ups having backed over two dozen emerging technology companies
since 1996.
Bart's current investment interests include wireless technologies,
nanoelectronics, infrastructure software and communications
semiconductors.
Bart started his venture capital career by investing in classic, early
stage companies while at Intel Capital where he was Director of
Networking and Communication Investments. Creating an ecosystem
investment strategy, Bart led investments spanning all areas of
communications infrastructure including service providers, systems, and
semiconductor companies. Bart's investments returned approximately a
billion dollars in realized gains. He built a reputation for being a
trusted partner to the management teams and boards of Covad
Communications, Copper Mountain Networks, CopperCom, NorthPoint
Communications, Media4, AccessLan, IteX, GlobeSpan, Broadband
Technologies, and Broadcom.
Bart built his operating experience earlier in his eight-year tenure at
Intel. He held several senior operating roles in Intel's Networking and
Communications Division. His product line responsibilities included
network adapters and switches, storage area networking, network
management software and video conferencing. As a general manager, he was
responsible for several product lines in the US and internationally,
including the acquisition and integration of a network management
start-up in Israel.
Before joining Intel, Bart was a successful entrepreneur, founding a LAN
services and integration firm, later acquired by Alphanet, a $140
million national systems integration firm.
Bart holds a BS in Computer Engineering from Cornell University and an
MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA.
His current board responsibilities include Atreus Systems, Avail
Networks, Bay Packets and Bermai.
