Alexander Wong joined Apax Partners, Inc. as a partner in 2001. He focuses
on semiconductor, optical and emerging technology investments. Previously,
he was a Managing Director at Intel Capital, where he led the technology
group responsible for investment and mergers and acquisitions activity in
semiconductors and emerging technologies. While there, he pioneered Intel's
investments in optical and wireless microsystems, nanotechnologies, displays
and biotechnology. In parallel, he also created Intel's internal strategic
programs for these areas.
Dr. Wong has also served as Chief of Staff to the President of Intel
Capital, a role that encompassed a wide range of operational and strategic
activities in venture investment, corporate research and development, and
government affairs. He also has expertise in semiconductor design
technology and manufacturing, with over a decade of experience as a
consultant for Motorola, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and within
Intel's Technology and Manufacturing Group.
Dr. Wong, who serves on the advisory board of the NanoBusiness Alliance,
holds Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University
of California at Berkeley, as well as a B.S. degree in Computer Engineering
from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
