Prof. Dr. Hans-Joachim Guentherodt heads the Swiss National Center of
Competence in Research in Nanoscience (NCCR) as well as a research group at
the Institute of Physics at University of Basel/Switzerland.
Prof.Guentherodt was also involved in the creation of the Virtual
Nanoscience Laboratory. The NCCR in Nanoscience (www.nanoscience.unibas.ch) is a long-term interdisciplinary research effort
focusing on nanoscale structures and aiming to provide new impact and ideas
for the life sciences, for the sustainable use of resources, and for
information and communications technologies. Within the framework of the
federal program "Swiss Virtual Campus", an interdisciplinary team is
developing a Virtual Nanoscience Laboratory
(www.nanoworld.unibas.ch/zope/nano/en) for students of natural sciences and pharmacy.
