Ajay Ramachandran brings extensive experience as a serial entrepreneur, seed stage investor, and technology evangelist to Ark Venture Partners. Ramachandran's unique background includes a diversified blend of biotechnology, nanotechnology, management consulting, information technology, product management and business development. He has helped successful companies develop business models and go-to-market strategies, differentiate products and services, leverage intellectual capital, streamline operations, and develop customer relationships and strategic partnerships.
Ramachandran's academic biotech and nanotech background and general management experience has been leveraged as a Board member of several biotech startups including Innogenex, an early stage biotech company that is focusing on developing post-genomics technologies to accelerate biomedical research, drug development and preclinical studies. Innogenex has developed highly standardized automation tools and services for the analysis of gene expression in animal and human tissues, bioinformatics for "ex-vivo" disease target and combinatorial drug library matching, as well as optimized sensitive reagent systems for the detection and localization of disease targets.
Ramachandran's expertise comes from a career that included co-founding and executive-level positions at Electron Economy, USWeb/CKS, Utopia, Inc. and IndiaInternet.com. He also sits on the board and advises several early-stage start-up companies including Richfx (raised $50m+), EScene Networks (acquired by Inktomi), Xstream Wireless, Mobile Synthesis, Digital Efficiencies, InnoGenex and Cybersage Inc.
In addition to his avid interest in entrepreneurship, Ramachandran has degrees in Molecular Cellular Biology and Communications.
