Ron Stone
Co-Founder and President
Gold Mountain Entertainment

Ron Stone, co-founder and president of Gold Mountain Entertainment for over 15 years, is a product of the golden age of the music industry. From his first day in artist management, such hallowed names as Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, The Eagles, and Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young were part of his daily routine. Not only were the acts superstars but the managers he worked with were all budding celebrities in their own right. David Geffen, Elliot Roberts, Irving Azoff -- all future titans of the music industry began at Lookout Management.

One of Ron Stone's closest friends from childhood (Elliot Roberts) came out from New York managing Neil Young and Joni Mitchell. It was only a matter of time before Stone went to work with Roberts. Soon after, Stone and Roberts signed Crosby, Stills, and Nash. David Geffen was the agent for all of the acts on the Lookout roster (Geffen would later become a senior partner in the company). Within a few years, the company added new clients such as The Eagles, Bob Dylan And The Band, Devo, and America.... making it the pre-eminent management company of the time.

After 10 years at Lookout Management concentrating on Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, Joni Mitchell and Devo, he went out on his own. In time, he formed a new management company -- Gold Mountain Entertainment -- with Danny Goldberg (the former President of Warner Bros. and Chairman of Mercury Records. He is now CEO of Artemis Records).

Early on, the pair signed Bonnie Raitt and Belinda Carlisle shepherding each to multi-platinum career resurgence. In time, other managers were brought on board and satellite offices were opened in New York and Nashville. With the addition of John Silva, Gold Mountain set the stage for the careers of Nirvana, Beastie Boys, Beck, Foo Fighters, and Sonic Youth. Additionally, Burt Stein moved to Nashville and brought into the company the likes of Rodney Crowell, Ronnie Milsap and Nanci Griffith to the Gold Mountain roster.

Stone concentrated not only on coordinating the activities of the entire company but also in signing Tracy Chapman and helping to bring about her return to multi-platinum success. He has most recently signed Lisa Loeb and Baha Men ("Who Let The Dogs Out").

His knowledge of the Internet and the challenges new technology poses to the music business has led Stone to consult on digital rights issues to the RIAA. Other consulting clients include Rodale Press and Echo Records. He also helped form The Recording Artists Coalition.

Stone lives in Studio City with his wife of 39 years.
