Joshua Dern
VP of New Media
Atlantic Records

Joshua Dern is Vice President of New Media for Atlantic Records, one of the leading record labels in the world. With over 50 years of incredible history, Atlantic Records has released the recordings of many venerable artists; from the label's early jazz roots to Aretha Franklin, Led Zeppelin, and all the way up to current chart topping artists P.O.D., Kid Rock, Sean Paul, Lil Kim, and many more.

Joshua joined Atlantic in early 1997 as a young pioneer in the burgeoning internet, specializing in the confluence of the internet and traditional media, and was rapidly promoted up the ranks to Vice President three years later at the age of 25. Prior to working at Atlantic, Joshua was a musician and member of independent bands, and he also worked as a freelance artist, filmmaker, photographer, and marketing consultant. He now serves not only as creative director and head of production for the new media department, but he also serves as a key strategist in evaluating new business models and technologies, oversees piracy policies, and acts as the company's net business guru. With his help Atlantic has produced many award winning artist web sites, label sites, and cd-roms, as well as pioneered some of the earliest major label webcasts and built a direct-to-web live studio at Atlantic's home office where his many years in recording studios proved an invaluable benefit.

In addition to his work with Atlantic, he has participated in numerous think tanks, lectures, and conferences on music, technology, and the future of the entertainment industry, and has also taught fine arts and digital arts.
