Peter Lurie brings extensive knowledge of joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and business law to his role of General Counsel at Virgin Mobile USA. Peter is responsible for negotiating strategic relationships with key business partners such as media companies, retail partners, hardware manufacturers, software developers, handset suppliers, game publishers and music companies. He also handles Virgin Mobile's regulatory obligations and governance matters. Peter helped to organize the company in April 2000. Prior to Virgin Mobile, Peter co-founded and served as principal of a private equity group for the German bank, Commerzbank. There he participated in the first public offering of a private equity fund in Europe. Peter was an associate of Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett where he worked on M&A and private equity transactions. He began his career as a clerk for a federal judge after law school. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and The University of Chicago Law School, where he served as editor of The University of Chicago Law Review.
