Chris Schairbaum
Worldwide Business Manager
Portable Audio & Infotainment Business Unit
Texas Instruments
Chris Schairbaum is the worldwide business manager for the Portable Audio &
Infotainment Business Unit at Texas Instruments. Since joining the company
in 1995, he has managed product development, strategic marketing and new
business development initiatives for several of TI's custom and mass
market-focused semiconductor and software product lines, most notably in the
areas of mass storage, digital audio and entertainment. While in TI's
Storage Products Group, Schairbaum managed TI's preamplifier product line
and was chairman of the new product development team. He then moved to the
global strategic projects post for the Advanced Development Group at TI,
which focused on integrating second-generation storage technology with
innovative business models targeting the personal computer and consumer
electronics markets.
This effort led Schairbaum to join the Portable Audio & Infotainment Group
in 2000, which was, at its roots, a start-up venture within TI during the
infancy of the Internet audio and MP3 boom in consumer electronics.
Currently, Schairbaum is the business manager of the Portable Audio &
Infotainment Group and continues to lead customer and partner relations,
global marketing initiatives and product development. Through his
leadership, Texas Instruments has become a leading technology provider in
the portable entertainment market through relationships with the major
record labels, infrastructure partners and top consumer electronics
manufacturers around the world. Schairbuam has served on the board of
directors for Digital 5 Corporation and has provided industry insights on
technology entrepreneurialship for the annual University of Pennsylvania
Wharton Technology Conference. He also was the keynote speaker at the 2002
DSP Expo & Conference and has spoken at several conferences, including the
Consumer Electronics Association Conference, Seybold Seminars, MP3 Summit,
Digital Hollywood and the Consumer Electronics Show.
Chris graduated from the University of Dayton with a degree in electrical
engineering and is currently a masters of business administration candidate
at the University of Texas.
