Ron Shapiro
Ron Shapiro Management & Consulting, LLC

In his nearly 20 years in the music business, Ron Shapiro has been at the forefront of new ideas and tactics towards combining classic performers and modern business approaches. He has spearheaded a variety of ground-breaking artist development strategies and conceived non-traditional marketing initiatives that have become broadly used throughout the industry.

Shapiro joined Atlantic Records in 1993 as Vice President of Media & Artist Relations, based in Los Angeles. The following year he was promoted to Senior Vice President/West Coast General Manager, supervising the company's L.A. office. In 1995, Shapiro was named Atlantic's Senior Vice President/General Manager, relocating to the label's New York headquarters where he began to oversee the company's day-to-day activities. In 1997, he was promoted to Atlantic Executive Vice President/General Manager, recognizing his involvement in the company's overall operations.

Named Co-President in 2002, Shapiro has overseen a diverse array of departments within Atlantic, including Marketing (embracing Advertising & Merchandising, Product Development, and Video Production), Media & Artist Relations, Sales, New Media, Video Promotion, Artist Development, Creative Services, and International.

In addition to his role in developing long-term careers for Jewel, Brandy, matchbox twenty, Kid Rock, Tori Amos, and others, Shapiro was intimately involved in kick-starting breakthrough success for such million-selling artists as the Corrs, P.O.D., and Craig David.

Shapiro also took an active role in pioneering a number of unconventional cross-marketing strategies, including high-profile partnerships with the Wilhelmina modeling agency, Cover Girl cosmetics, and Schick Razors; special projects in conjunction with such publications as Teen People, Seventeen, Vogue, Glamour; and a variety of other unique ventures.

Prior to joining Atlantic, Shapiro was Senior Director, Media & Writer/Publisher Relations at BMI before leaving for a position at MCA Records. He spent four years at MCA, advancing from National Publicity Director to Vice President, Public Relations. He is a graduate of Vassar College.
