Kevin Dowd
President
Brainhat Corporation
Kevin Dowd founded Brainhat and has over twenty years of experience in the computer business. He began his career developing expert system-based accident monitoring systems for the nuclear power industry. From there, he went to work as a development engineer and lead sales technical resource for Multiflow Computer, a mini-supercomputer start-up founded on work done at Yale. As a follow-on to the supercomputer experience, Kevin wrote a book, "High Performance Computing," published by O'Reilly and Associates. The book found a following and is still used in many universities as a course text in computer architecture.

After Multiflow, Kevin led the Advanced Computing Technology Center for Computer Sciences Corporation, on-site at United Technologies Research Center. The project's purpose was to bring maturing technologies to United Technologies aerospace and commercial divisions. The work focused on parallel computing and network technologies, and eventually extended into promoting IP and burgeoning Internet applications within UT. Following this experience, Kevin wrote a second book, "Getting Connected: The Internet at 56K and Up. This book, likewise, gained a following and became an often-quoted IT technology resource.

Nearing expiration of the CSC contract, United Technologies requested that Kevin form a private company to provide captive consulting within United Technologies. This was the start of Atlantic Computing Technology Corporation. Kevin and his staff organically expanded Atlantic to become one of the regions largest and most respected Internet security resellers and integrators, servicing a significant portion of the Fortune 500.

In early 2000, a profitable Atlantic computing merged into Articon-Integralis, a leading security reseller in Europe, creating a multi-continent enterprise with redundant security operations centers. Kevin continued to manage the US division until November of 2001 when he left to pursue natural language technology as a business. Brainhat was formally organized in October of 2001.

Brainhat code development started in 1996. The code and methods are the product of years of rumination, experimentation and experience with Natural Language Processing at the University of Connecticut in the early 1980s. To date, the primary purposes of the Brainhat project has been development of brand recognition and development of code. Kevin has been doing this work with the assistance of others on the team and a few outsiders.
