Mikko Suonenlahti has been with 3i as a Partner since 1995 in Europe and since 2001 in the US. He brings over 20 years of global management experience, including over a decade of experience in venture capital. He
has led and managed early and later stage technology investments in the United States, Canada, Finland, Denmark and the United Kingdom.
Since 1993 he has served on the board of directors of 20 businesses and he currently represents 3i on the boards of OmniGuide, Pedestal Software, Quantiva and Top Layer in the US and SiGe Semiconductor in Canada. He has been a board member and lead investor of Iobox (acquired by Telefonica), Sample Rate Systems (acquired by Flextronics) and Tedasys (acquired by Sonera) among others. He has also been a board member of Hotel Eremitage, a family business (acquired by Scandic / Hilton Hotels). His experience as a "hands on" board member includes executing corporate governance, strategic planning, turn around management, cross border and cross continent divestments and in developing effective boards.
Previously he was a co-founder of SFK Finance, which raised Finland's first ever technology focused venture fund of $10 MM and eventually had $150 MM under management in early and later stage funds. SFK Finance
subsequently partnered with 3i. He has also held management positions at Nokia, McKinsey and Unisys and in addition he has been a managing director of a venture capital financed pre-revenue start-up, 3D Computing.
Mikko received his MBA (KTM) from the Helsinki School of Business, Finland. He also holds a BBA from Portland State University, Oregon. He has also participated in executive education at Harvard Business School.
