Ron Toll is Dean of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Central Arkansas. He also serves as a Special Assistant for Technology and Corporate Relations to the President of UCA. Dr. Toll has provided leadership for developing and implementing UCA's strategic vision to use information technology to enhance teaching and learning outcomes across all academic disciplines.
Prior to joining UCA in 1999, Dr. Toll was a member of the faculty and held several administrative positions at The University of South (TN) and Wesleyan College (GA). He has been associated with the national ubiquitous computing movement since its inception and has given numerous professional presentations on topics related to teaching with technology and building design considerations related to IT infrastructure.
As Associate Director of the Adjunct Sciences Program of the S. S. Central America project, Dr. Toll participated in the search and recovery of a 19th century side-wheel steamer from a depth of 8000 ft below the surface of the ocean, including retrieval of tons of gold bars, coins, nuggets, and dust, with an estimated value of over 250 million dollars.
A 1977 graduate of Rutgers University with a bachelor's degree in Zoology, Dr. Toll also earned a Ph. D. in Biological Oceanography in 1982 from the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science of the University of Miami (FL) and was a Postdoctoral Fellow and Research Associate at the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution (DC).
